Broke is a temporary state of your pocket or bank account
Poverty is a (changeable) conditioning of the mind
I can put money in your pocket and in your bank account, but that will not likely change the conditioning of your mind. If I teach you how to think and be successful, you now have the power to change the state of your pocket and bank account.
Giving a man something to eat only temporarily satisfy his hunger. Soon, he will be hungry again. If I provide him with the skills, tools, and opportunity to satisfy his own hunger, if he then starves, it will be a matter of his own choosing.
Poverty will never be eliminated by simply giving handouts to the poor. That may sustain their life another day so that on tomorrow, you can give them another hand out. In so doing, you are simply perpetuating poverty. If you only make a person dependent, they will never become, independent. The cure to poverty is helping people to become independent and self-sufficient.
It is good to give a staving person a fish to eat to keep him from staving to death. But each day that you sustain his life, you should be training him how to catch his own fish. There must be an exit strategy tied to charity.
Wealth is having an abundance of resources, lacking no good thing. Poverty is the lacking of abundant resource. They both are effects.
Poverty is a default effect. If you do nothing productive or proactive, by default, you will most likely live in poverty. Wealth typically requires conscious proactive effort to produce the desired effect.
Most people, who live in poverty, live in poverty because of what they don’t know and what they don’t do. Contrarily, most people who are wealthy are wealthy because of who and what they know; and what they do with what they know.
Wealth is the result of doing and not doing certain things.
